I'm in need of some new tires for my truck. it'll prolly mostly be driven on the road but should see some regular weekend offroad action too, and has to be a good snow tire too. usually I'd say BFG AT's but I've been hearing some horror stories bout recent poor production quality. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Toyo Open Country A/T's or M/T's.

I'm really considering their 33x10.5 M/T's but not sure if that may be too aggressive for my needs. how do they compare with...

What truck are they going on?

I ran a set of BFG ATs years ago and hated them, didn't last worth shiat.
I've been really happy with Cooper Discover ATRs, cheap and work great.

I had Toyo AT's for a while and liked them alot, on the trail street and snow. The only down side to them is that they where expensive.

this'll be on my bandito, but'll be weighing bout 500lbs more than it's original state. I'll look more into the ATR's. did you ever offroad them, Jon?

I did, on very mild trails a couple of times and i have to admit that i was surprised at how well they performed. I always had it in my mind while wheelin with them that they were AT's so "take it easy" but i found that because they performed so well i could almost wheel them like mud terrains... almost.

Not really wheeled unless you count construction sites. Been bumper deep in snow and 6-8" of mud without problems.
I've gotten 100,000 km out of them where the BFGs only lasted 40,000

Cheapest place I've found for Coopers is Pinkus Tire in Williamsburg. Last set I bought from him were $50 less per tire than Firsby and included installation.

The Toyo's cost just over 1200 for 4, they where 33". I had them less than a year before i sold them because the cherokee that they where on ceased being a daily driver so i went back to mud tires. I can say though that in the year i had them they weren't really showing that much wear.

I have cooper Discoverer ATRs aswell and absolutely love them.

Only negative I've heard about them is that they are heavy. I'm sure they have to be lighter than the Truxus MTs that I have now. I'll probably go Toyos on my next tires for the Jeep (get racing programme discount with the cars).
