ok...I need to start making a list of what I need for this swap...
4.10:1 gears
bearings, seals, u-joints
custom front d.s.
front leafs (I guess the stock wagoner ones)
Shackles and something to mount them to...
transfer case adapter plate (its a spline out put shaft)
2"x4" steel tubing for front cross member to mount springs too

Feel free to add anything else. Im trying to find a list already made up on the blazer forums...

Now a question about the Dana 44's. They are auto locking hubs...

They are auto locking hubs. Which my truck already has.
False. IIRC your truck has axleshaft disconect mounted inside the front pumpkin. But NO locking/auto/ manual hubs., ie there is nothing you can reuse.

I have a vacuum line going to the diff. Ill just go manual hubs. That much to install gears!?!?!? Hmm... I think ill bring them to my dads friend in Pakenham. He has done tons of Chevy and Ford rear ends. I thought it was easy to install, just took a bit the get the right shims in there.

Funny, I always heard $500 as the number thrown around for a gear change at each end, just for install. I was thinking it was a pretty decent deal.

$200 - $250 seems like a good deal. I know I wouldn't do it for less...

Installing, bolting the parts in, is quick and easy.
Its several hours of work though to set the gears up properly.

Are you planning on lockers for this build? If you can consider installing them at the same time as the gears. This would save you some cost later, as most locker installations also require the gears to be setup again.

For steering Astro box with cherokee pitman arm. That seems to be what all the blazer guys are running. I talked to my dad today, and when im ready his buddy will install the bearings, gears and rear locker at the same time for a case of beer. Im going to start stripping the axles after jan. 1st.

what u planning to do here? did you mean to put a SYE or swap t'cases?

This is what I meant. Im trying to find a 1995-1997 Blazer with the manual transfer case and black interior. Then I will swap to a u-joint style output shaft. I need the interior pieces to get rid of the electric 4wd and still look stock inside.

I wouldn't worry too much about the front DS untill you have everything else in but you still need to plan for it. When I put did the SA swap in my '95 Sierra, the front stock front DS bolted right in with nothing more than a conversion u-joint at the diff. An hour of seaching thru the catalogues was way cheaper than the DS

When you find the donor truck for the tcase, get both the DS from it too.

I would not worry about it either, there is a big chance to be reused or modified to fit. I would not worry about the TC as well, the Blazers TC is not bad at all and could be easy modified to manual shift if you dont like the electronic one. Well there is no lower gearing options for it but it is your last worry AFAIK.
