Locally there is a National4WD in Smiths Falls. Many members buy from the US and have it shipped to our UPS box in Ogdensburg.

anybody know how paying customs works when ordering stuff from the US. I'm trying to buy a lift kit from rough country but I'm not sure how much customs will be.

Am guessing RC is made in the US so...... You would not pay customs... IF you ship to the border and go pick it up. NOW... If you have RC ship it to your place via UPS well..... You are in for a world of hurt :lmao::lmao: UPS will charge basically whatever they want and will hold your product until you pay it. THEY call it brokerage fees to get it across the border. = Cash cow for UPS.

Simplest way... Order online and have it shipped to Ogdensburg. Then go down and pick it up. If/when you become a member, you can then pay an extra fee and you can then use the OVO mailbox at the UPS store and save on the ship to fees. I still try and buy locally though. Give a few calls around first and then head south if you can't find the best deal up here. Northridge.ca is a good place (No taxes and fre:pissed:e shipping)....

The only thing you will pay when you bring it back into canada are the taxes (1.13 X what you paid in US dollars converted to Cdn Dollars at the going exchange rate..). Plus you pay $3. or so each way when you cross the bridge...

As someone already mentioned, try PJF 4x4.They have a sale until the end of January:

The price you see on the RC website is the price you pay if you buy it through PJF (you save shipping from RC to Canada, brokerage fees, and US to CDN exchange). If you have it shipped from the PJF shop in Montreal to Ontario, you only pay one tax. I bought a RC lift from them in December and it seemed like a good deal.

Look into Northridge4x4.ca... Free shipping on almost anything and Stan is a great guy to deal with. Just might take a week or 2.

well i keep ordering from quadra tech and dont pay taxes or havnt even paid brokerage fees from ups. although i did pay 137 for shipping but my bumpers were still cheaper through them then anywhere else. next diff covers and other odds and sods lol.

I don't see how you don't pay sales taxes on merchandise entering Canada.
You are either entering the parts illegally into the country or someone is making a false declaration of the value of the merchandise being purchased…..

As for bieng cheaper than anywhere else, have you tried PJF4x4?

I'm not saying we are cheaper than all the others, I'm saying we try to give the prices we can while still staying in business.

I wonder if the last time Jason ordered parts he was in Alberta. Alberta does not have sales tax. (IIRC)

That would make more sense. Because I doubt Quadratec would do any creative accounting when it comes to exporting.

Depending on the package size/value, it could easily go through customs without paying taxes. Happens all the time. It's the same concept as when you cross the border in your car. You declare that you have say $250.00 in goods on you. In the interest of moving the line along, they let you go ahead without going in and paying taxes.... CBSA cannot get every product that crosses in to CDA. They just do not have the infrastructure. It's all random.

I've bought upwards of $800.00 US in A/V wiring once, shipped from California from a reputable store. Declared as such and it came right in, no taxes...... I have also brought across the border via Ogdensburg, items in excess of $600 US, declared as such and i was told to just go ahead.....

There is a fairly generic supplier called KEYSTONE that a bunch of the local dealerships and performance shops deal with for suspension components, lift kits, tires, and accessories etc. Orleans Dodge, Campbell Ford, No Limits Autoparts, Extreme Auto Care, Van & Truck World etc....are a few shops that I know in the city of Ottawa that order from these guys, but there are more. They deal Superlift, Rancho, Rough Country, Interco, Mickey Thompson, Pro-Comp, Best Top, KC, Edelbrock, Holley, and so on.....
