The TJ will hopefully be street able and i intend to drive it to the trails, however other than an occasional jaunt into town to rent a movie, it's not going to be my DD. I just don't want to buy something only to find out after the fact that it sucks arse on the trails.... I do not enjoy mud or bogging a vehicle down in a bottomless pit or goo, so i will be tooling the TJ to conquer trails more so modeled like say Gorge or Lavant.

When my truck was full bodied and street legal (sort of) I drove it on 36" TSL/SX Bias. They are known for being the worst tire there is on the street (steel side walls make for a not so round tire) but It never really bothered me. On the trails they are tough as nails. I have been running SX's for 5 years now and never needed a spare yet. For a smoother ride on the street though an Bias Irok would be the best bet I would think, but they would wear faster.

Terry also drives SX's to the trails and does not seem to mind (other than his truck can't go past 80kph) ;)

I came across a set for sale on Staun's for around the 2K mark, with very little wear. Only somewhat downside is that they are 39's. I really didn't want to go that big, but fawk it. I'll have the 5.13's in the axles and a Tera 4:1 installed so i should be OK.

Like Terry though, i couldn't give two shits how fast it goes at this stage. That will be the later stages when you start to think... Mmmmm, i think i need a nice SB or the likes... Then it's all out nonesense at point. Right Adrian :)

That's how i will sell it to the boss at around Valentine's day in my efforts to justify blowing some serious coin in the next few weeks :)

I found that the bias Iroks where good on the street. I drove to the trails for a year... I did not find that they flat spotted, at all. I do not think they are overly loud on the road for an offroad tire, but you probably don't care about that, and quite frankly, my exhaust is louder than the tires :p

They did not wear much in that first year of driving to the trails.

Mike Lorint ran the radial Irok on his DD samurai, he can probably chime in the best on tire wear.

Agree with what Adrian said, my SX's although not the roundest, are driveable, just don't leave a coffee in the cup holder else it may magically empty itself.

And my Sami can do 95K thank you very much (at 5500RPM).

Mike Legace had 36" Iroc's on his Sami this past year (the one Tim now owns) and they are pretty much done after one year on the street.

Were his the bias set, or the radials? I know the other Mike L was running the opposite, so there's good feedback on both types and their wear. (Came up when talking to Mike Lorient about possibly buying his red Zuk).
