Wow, about time I took that christmas tree down!
Look what I found way at the back. This should make turning the truck with the front spool a little easier. I must be getting old or lazy or both!!

Is that an assist or full setup? WTF steering box/pitman arm is that?????

That box is a Suzuki Sidekick power steering box drilled and tapped for the Ram Assist. Everything is a bolt bolt on to my truck, except I have to weld on the brackets for the ram. I was going to go to a full hydro setup but if your engine dies in the middle of no where you are dead in the water with no steering what so ever.
Anyone want to buy a Suzuki Sidekick stock power steering set up cheep?

How many cranks does it take to get the wheels to turn without the pump then? Or is it just a lot harder to turn?

See ,I was told by Trail Gear and Low Range that you would have no steering?

Nope. I have steered both Bill's buggy and Car 69 without them running. Turns is the same, just no power...

Steering a full hydro rig with the engine off is not much different than trying to steer a regular PS system with out the engine. That is assuming they didn't use some whacky obital.

Well this is all installed and what a difference!!! Did lots of testing over the weekend at my friend Jim's place and I had only one problem to work out. I had the ram on a sight angle and it kept loosening off the jam nuts on my draglink ( i have 3/4 -5/8 heim joints for my steering) so I repositioned the mount on the diff bracket so it was more strait in line with the bracket welded to the draglink. After more testing it is working great now no more loose jam nuts, and 1 finger turning even in a tight spot. Yes I am getting old, now the kids can drive the truck!

Steve I have the old sidekick steering system here at work you can pick-it up anytime Monday till Thursday 7:00-5:00 or Friday 7:00 till 4:00. I had to use one of the fittings for the new box. but it is a common stock sidekick one you already would have on your old box it is the return line fitting.

Nope no windshield ,I am going to put a roof on it and fill in the doors but that will be more for a saftey factor on the kids heads and legs flying out on a rollover. I think my next big project will be an automatic then the kids will really be able to drive it easily.
