School me on Hydroboost Brakes

I've got the big brake setup on the XJ done but I'm not happy with the pedal feel. It works well but the pedal travels much too far and I find it hard to modulate at the limit. My Jeep doesn't have ABS so that is just a little important.

I understand that the larger bore of a hydroboost master pushes much more fluid over a smaller range of travel (assuming same pedal ratio) and this is something that may fix me up.

So, what do you need to do to retrofit hydroboost on a vehicle that didn't...

What I have so far is 2001 XJ master and booster (supposed to be ~same as WJ), WJ front calipers, Sidekick 4 door front calipers in the back (bigger than ZJ rear calipers).

I still need to monkey with the proportioning but I'm certain that adjusting that will not reduce the amount of pedal travel I'm seeing now. At least not enough to make a big difference.

Yeah from what I understand the Durango master is the way to go because of it's large volume and something about their booster being able to take even bigger masters. I am surprised that you have not seen this. The 2001 XJ/ ZJ stuff works but low pedal, I have it and I don't mind it.

What vintage Durango are we talking about? I'll go do some research. Is it larger bore? <must be?>

Assuming similar vintage... MY98 Durango is 1-1/16" bore (vs 1" for the MY97+ XJ). That may be workable.

Plug and play? Any bracketry fab required?

99 Durango is bolt in apparently (1-1/16" bore). I'll give that a go first. I'm not really keen on modifying (i.e. welding) the MC rod on a street vehicle.

Thanks for the tweak.
