The 79 bronco d44 hast cast radius arms, so it has to be retubed.

Also those really arnt true flat tops. They are flat but there is no backup material for studs.

On the cast versions when you cut the radius arm mounts off there is no tube underneath. http://77cj.littlekeylime.com/Dana44.htm
Yeah, that sites great (Rudely made but it works!!!). The cast is literally part of the tube. So, depending on how much of the cast you remove, you might not have much left in regards to the actual axle tubing..! Picture 14 shows it best.

So , is it worth anything to anybody ? Or , am I better off taking it for scrap ?
You CAN use this D44 is a TJ application, it just takes a bit of work ... mainly, re-tubing the axle. This is the same axle I had in my TJ before I parted it out. The previous owner that had it built, had it re-tubed and also re-splined the stock axles at the same time.
