Winch Deal at Princess Auto

At 4000lb, I presume this is for an ATV? For wheeling, you typically want 1.5-2x the weight of your vehicle for a winch. For most folks, that means an 8-9K winch.

For lower end winches, try getting a price on a Smittybuilt 8xrc (or whatever it is), or look at Titan down in SO. Keep in mind, you typically get what you pay for. If you put yourself in situations where winching out may be the difference between life and death, invest in a good Warn winch.

What Kunker said. When it comes to a winch there is two rules:
1. Get what people have found works. Warns are like Cisco and Sony (relatively safe bets that it will work (Warn definitely more so) even if it costs more)
2. Warranty means dick-all when you are stuck axles deep in mud and it decides to break (some chinese built ones are putting long warranties to entice to buy them).

Yah, My TJ came with a 4000lb winch :( Took it off and it's sitting in the shed - useless :)

Had a titan lasted 4 years. It stopped working, took it apart and it was totally corroded inside. Lesson learned, like stated above you get what you pay for. Save your money and get a good one that will last. I'm getting a Warn.

I've got a 12K Titan, and it's been a workhorse for the last 4 years, and used a lot (for things other than getting my ass out of swamps or pulling Scott and Terry INTO the swamp :flipoff: ).

It's starting to rust to shit also. But, that sucker delivered time and time again, and nearly pulled the XJ apart a few times. Not bad for a $500 winch. And yeah, it's not very serviceable.

My warn I paid $350 for it, it is definitely old it is one of the first XD9000i (early 90's late 80's?). Took it apart and cleaned it up, replaced a bad solenoid and she works like a champ. Took a good while before I found one at that price. It was also a risk since I got it off of ebay but pretty much everything is still available from Warn.
