Probably 35's, more of a question of KM2s or Pitbulls though. Tony thinks Pitbulls on Dana 30 would be too much even with chromos. Need to look into it more.
Did a quick look at my jeep and the exhaust took a beating. It's now resting on the axle. Sounded a bit different driving home. Also seems to have dented the cans on the shocks. I think next year will be replacing shocks and moving rear shock brackets a tad higher. Both rears have been dented before from the spring mount from the Dana 35. The good thing about the exhaust is I think I can get it clamped up for now but I suspect with the doubler in I will be looking at adjusting the exhaust anyways as the 231 will have been flipped and there may be some interference.

35 pitbulls are WIDE. I have them on mine. I don't think the 30 has a hope in hell of living with them, cromos or not.
I have a little different driving style but I don't think my 44 would hold up without the cromo shafts...I am still a little worried about the ujoints...

Scott, you talking the radial or bias? I was planning the radials which sre only 12.5" wide. Also the plan is the new Revolution shafts which are chromo but have the bigger u-joint from the JK

My 44 u joints in just over a year and a half are pooched already on just the 33 pitbulls. Mind you that's a rubi 44. So I would say buy my pitbulls!

Chris ya mine are Bias, I forgot the radials were narrower. Those shafts sound interesting, still think it is a recipe for disaster but I guess it all depends on driving style. I would be worried about R&P's at that point and I would much rather have the fuse at the U-Joint than in the pumpkin...
Take all this with a grain of salt, it is just my opinion.

Which are the same u-joints as the TJ Dana 30. I wonder which has more of an effect on u-joint wear, tire diameter or tire width? Or is it the same?

The new Revolution shafts which are supposed to go on sale within a week or two use the Spicer 5-7166x u-joint from the JK Dana 44 rather than the 5-760x which the TJ uses for both axles. It's supposed to be bigger.
Sorry for threadjacking. We should move it to my axle swap thread.

Scott, I completely agree, I just wonder how much of a difference essentially two identically sized tires can be that much (excluding the fact that KM2s have a tendency to be a bit smaller). Needless to say unless my tires wear that much more before next year by sitting in the garage I doubt it will be more than just a plan for the future. I will probably look at moving the shock brackets way before that. I suspect i will be needing new shocks at the same time.

Till Valhalla!
I took second and the orange and black buggy took third, it was a great day! awesome weather and a fairly big turn out - we had to create another class making it four.

Nice! The event seems to be growing, I just hope the trend continues next year (assuming Dwayne has any interest in doing it again).
