Build Project - SS Cherokee

Till Valhalla!
Been doing a few minor adjustments recently - making sure I will pass tech next season. I basically have everything with fluids on catch cans, all fuel lines now have shutoff valves and I built a firewall behind the seats, which meant I had to reinstall my action packer in a different orientation - the other side has an ARTEC fluid crate. I have also removed the massive Ford front brake calipers and taken apart the hubs as I am converting to Chevy 3/4ton calipers.

Finished the Ford to Chevy brake conversion - I just need to pick up some new banjo bolts for the calipers and i'll bleed the system, I have added a line lock for the rear brakes too.

Just wondering, Is it the size of the ford calipers (weight) that makes the chevy's an upgrade? Do the chevs work better?

There is an element of weight savings for switching but it's mostly a performance "upgrade". Even with a 3/4 ton MC my braking was only "adequate" and these should make things better. I had my prop valve set at an almost 90% bias to the front (I could lock up the front tires only at full braking) and I want to send more braking power to the rear for more even stopping but if I send more braking to the rear overall braking decreases. The Ford calipers where the original calipers from the axle and when I built it they were in so-so shape and as everyone knows are massive dual piston units. I am counting on the smaller single piston chevy calipers to give me better all round braking and the ability to send more braking to the rear end.

Installed a holy shit handle from TMR today, kit was super simple to put together!

So since i haven't had a rear seat in the buggy in years it was time to loose the head room and fast-backed it!

Motor is back from getting freshened up - just a few more details to finish up like a leaky steering pump, exhaust and plumb the engine catch-can.
