Finally I have better platform for a trail rig. Just picked up a 83 Toyota Pick Up. She needs some body work and brakes but the rest seems to be good.

Anyways any good Toyota forums you guys know of? Or web sights with lots of yota crap, gotta get a dream list going.

Pics tomorrow

Be prepared to waste the next few hours reading on what you want/need to do. LoL It's a great site for info for Toy's.

It kind of depends on your plans but YotaTech is a good place to start. If you are going more hard-core, try Marlin's Forums or Pirate.

Or better yet, just ask here. There are more than enough people here that can help you...

Plans for it, fix it drive it through the winter while I make my blazer into a better DD/tow rig. Then 35-40" tires, duel case with a 4.7 low in one, locks, usual stuff and probably lots of body damage :) but first I've got to get her on the road white stuff is falling and i don't want rust on my blazer.

But few questions right off the bat. Rear brakes are shot, looking at swapping in a new rear end. What years taco/4runners came with disk brakes? Also anyone have a right up on how to do a swap like this? Also what in the hell is that little box on the passenger side rear wheel well? Looks kinda like a proportioning valve, but anyways I have a leak on the line coming into it.

So feed me info on brake stuff.

But if I can snag a axle up for 200 bucks would it be worth it? I've read and read about conversion kits but if I can swap in a new rear axle for cheap then I would like to go that route.

Very nice right up I have to say.

Also what is Mike Lorint PM address?

Mike's username is mlorint. I have little knowledge on the Toy axles, but I do know that the IFS rears are a little wider than what you would have in there now, and I presume that any rear with factory discs would be from an IFS truck. You'd either need to run spacers up front, or I think Sky makes a widening kit (Dirk was running this I think?).

Stopped my NAPA to check out some prices to do a disk brake swap. It was $490 plus I would have to get the rotor machined, make the bracket, proportional valve and have to do the brake line.

Anyone have first hand experience with the TG kit?

all good mods you got on your list but, from experience, if I were starting out with an 83 toy p/u and looking for a first mod, I would say is to ditch your push/pull steering box in favour of an IFS steering box, and get a hi steer kit from trailgear. 2nd mod would be a rear locker.

too bad you didn't buy this truck earlier, last week I had a D44 out of an isuzu rodeo that would've fit under your rear end. it had 4.30's, a factory LSD, 6 bolt pattern and rear disc brakes. it's gone, but I may have another line on one coming up soon if your interested

Alright I'm going with monte carlo calipers with the chev truck rotors. I bought this truck to dick around with and learn stuff with so lets start with brakes ( probably not the safest to start dicking with lol). Going to order the chev stuff tomorrow, for some reason the guy was doubling everything I needed. Thats why it came out to like 500. I got some templates that I am going to cut out in class tomorrow.

Anyways how thick of metal should I used for the caliper bracket? 1/4" 3/8"?

Alright cut my own brackets out at school yesterday. I have 9 sets so I made plenty to screw up on :) I just picked up all the chevy stuff for the brakes, now all I have to do is get the rotor machined to 4.125? I also have to order my proportioning valve this morning to.

Sunday I hope to get one side completely done, then the other side I will fart around with during the week. Hoping next week if all goes well to have the brakes fully wrapped up and done, then its on to fix to big rust spots.
