It can be done, just make sure that the hub seals are fully seated on the spindle. New seals can be pretty tight so you might think you're seated when you still have 1/4" to go. If your spindle threads are nice and clean (no rust or burrs that is, grease is good)you can spin the first nut on by hand wiggling and turning the hub to make sure you've got all the slack out. The first nut is really a slack adjuster you shouldn't be "torquing" it down. Then your lock washer, then the jam nut which can be tightened "jammed" with the ol' hammer and chisel method. Then bend your keeper tabs and you're golden! You may need to revisit after a 100kms and adjust to remove any slack after the bearings have seated/ displaced any excess assembly grease.
