Axle shaft replaced, now diff wont lock?

Replaced the axle shaft on the front drivers side, and now this side is not locking. Could it just be that the hub needs to be taken off and re-positioned?
Are there some hub re-alignment tabs or something?

I can;t think of any reason other than if the hub is dirty or has too much grease in it.. It can only go on one way as there is dowels....
