Implying the JK stock. It has bigger tires, more clearance (I think) and more flat underneath

Which are you implying is more capable?

imthegreat2004, it's a good starter trail in my opinion. If you get to a point where you don't feel comfortable, you can always park the TJ and hop in with someone else for the rest of the day.

Stock JK has no skid plates, and typically 3.21 gears (sport) so they don't have enough low end torque.
Also IMO the pentastar engine is crap compared against the i6 4L. Just my 2 cents.

TJs typically have 3.07 stock, 29" tires and 8" clearance vs the JK's 32 tires and 10" clearance
The TJ's skid plates are a thin gas tank skid and the shovel they call a TC crossmember.
Let's not talk about the steering box which drops another 1-2" below the front bumper.
I will give you the V6 vs I6 though but blame that on the EPA
Granted the lack of skid plates on the JK was idiotic at best. But on the TJ moving the evap to the passenger rear corner must have been crack induced
The longer wheelbase on the 2 door JK could be considered an advantage but that is counteracted by the width. But having a rear Dana 44 stock is also a huge benefit compared to the rare nonRubicon TJs.

All that said I would still take a TJ for upgradability when you compare the insane costs for the JK equivalent. $1000 for a bumper? no way

Richard, I'm going to have to back out if it's just the two of us. My track record with the CJ isn't the greatest.

Sorry all

Let's cancel then. I'm thinking of taking my son on Carp then, give me a call at 613-832-1835 before 8:45 if you want to join.
