Hi Guys,

We (the landcruiser club) started into the carp trail from Dunrobin road today, the water is pretty high. We had 4 cruisers and mine was the only one with a snorkel so I was in the lead. 3 trucks made it through to the deep pond but after they saw my hood and truck bed under water they decided that they would wait for a "dryer" day. There was over 4 feet of water - probably 4.5 easily - so snorkel and watertight only.

So we turned around and headed to dwyer hill, we entered...

I was deeper than that but didn't get the video. I'll measure my truck - but it has to be over 4 feet to my hood.

Is that an oil bath filter on the end of your snorkel? Is that retrofit onto a ARB or AirFlow snorkel or is that a OEM snorkel setup?

It's a donaldson air cleaner from Australia - same as what is on the tractors you can get around here. Works great and I get just about no dirt or dust in my air filter. It is on a safari snorkel - I had to make an adapter.

The water is always deep on the Murphy's Side Rd part of Carp Trail. Thats one reason why we don't run it, that and there isn't much on that side of the trail, just deep water.

I really don't mind the deep water, like it better than mud, like rocks with mud more than water though. But in the event I come across water my truck is prepared for it - diesels rule:)

Cas and I were through there the same weekend we did crazy Horse, to get rid of some of the mud. And it was pretty deep then...Cas's Rubicon died right near the end and I was worried she'd ingested some water. But it sat for a bit and we got it going again.

I forgot the other way in - we just went to dwyer hill instead. I thought the pond by the crazy horse would be really deep for the other non snorkel trucks so I didn't bother. Diesel are great in water as long as they don't swallow it.

Did you have to do any winching?

Wow.

I'm suprised you guys didn't out-drive the bow wake. Not so much of an issue for you Louis, but the other guys..............

I like rocks.

A little too fast for them, they'd never gone through water that deep before so it is hard to fight the urge to put the pedal down and get the hell out. But at the same time you can't outdrive a wake when you are in 4 feet of water:) ou just make a bigger wake.

Alot of guys in OZ with jeeps and such have made up their own skirts that they slip on the front of the truck before they enter the water, keeps alot of water out of the bay and keep minnows and crud out of the rad.
