UPDATE: There has been zero interest in doing Carp at this point. With this in mind and what trixter found, I am canceling this run and suggesting making it into a trip to Lavant to run the trail and clean up any fallen trees. I will try rescheduling thisthe Carp run to beginning September.
Looking at Trixter's pictures it may only have been that one tree so it might turn into just a normal Lavant run.
The only catch is I can't remember the turns after the unloading point so someone...

So I talked to the fire dispatch. All they said is that the there are no more fire equipment at the location that had the fire and that the burn ban is still on but could not say whether or not it would be safe for us to go on the trail. They are still waiting from Dept of Environment for latest totals on rainfall. Essentially they couldn't give a definitive answer other than use common sense.

Not opposed to rescheduling the run to later like last week of August for Carp and go elsewhere this weekend.
Comments?

I think you would be fine on Carp. It's the long dry grass you need to be careful with... Which I do not believe there is too much of. Regardless of where you end up, don't leave your vehicles idling unattended.

Still interested in Carp either Sat or Sun. They are calling for rain Sunday, so that might reduce the risk of forest fires and make it a good day to run the trail (bad weather for doing other family stuff outdoors!). I'm not 100% confirmed so if there's little interest in Carp by others, you might want to go ahead and cancel/reschedule.

It so far out right now for Sunday it could be snowing. I don't trust anything up until the day before and even then I have seen it change. I am planning on going out this weekend no matter what just when and where is still up. I just want confirmations on people willing to go

May I suggest Lavant as a secondary option. I was there last weekend to visit Dixon lake, and did the first couple hundred feet, and there were downed trees. I cleared what I could but wouldn't want to venture too far out on my own. Lavant needs maintenance. I'd probably keep my truck at home and ride with someone else to keep things speedy.

Not opposed to doing lavant and making it a cleanup run on Sunday. How bad was it? Problem is I don't have a chainsaw or anything. I have my winch though. Also I have someone who is planning on running shotgun so I am pretty full. I think you should be okay for Lavant

A few pics here. http://imgur.com/a/gPSQp We just did a few hundred feet to clear that tree then we left. I just wanted to give my friend a taste of real rocks. The access trail is clear. I'm not really comfortable doing it again until my sliders come in. I'm also waiting for parking brake parts and need to fix my skid plate(again). So if anyone needs a spotter on sunday, let me know. Otherwise, have fun!

It doesn't look bad for some reason I was expecting it to be a lot worse.
Personally I would rather do Lavant Saturday or Sunday but we need a minimum of 2 vehicles. Unless I get a solid commitment for at least one more by noon Friday I may just cancel the whole thing until end of August.

How rocky is Lavant? I am thinking of taking the Pinz out. Could I get a general area of where the trail head is?

IIRC you had lots of ground clearance, correct? I'd say 33" tires to get through no problem. Your rig would make an excellent hauling vehicle.

Yes I do. I have 31" tires, but the truck has more clearance than most jeeps with 33". I am going to try and make this. If I can, I will meet you guys in Almonte.
