Clean up day

Alright, I have started this thread because some people has shown interest in a trail clean up day in another thread. I know John tried this last year but who would be Interested?

It would most likely be Burntlands/rock coady trail unless someone has another trail they would like to do.

We can try and get Media to the event also.
Jen, does your friend still work at the A channel?

Seeing as A channel accross Canada laid off a lot of people I'm not sure but I will look into it (no we weren't very close, haven't spoken in 2 or 3 years)

So as I was stating in the other thread I am very interested in doing this and if need be I will organize it, if that's what it takes to have this happen. however if someone else wants to take the lead I will step back.

handsomeDave, a clean up is when we go into a trail and 'clean up'
We as a group are very good about taking out what we take in and we do pick up waht we see when we are on runs, however there are those out there who give the sport a bad name - leaving trash behind like oil jugs, beer bottles, and even tires.
So we go into a trail with the focus of cleaning up all the trash we can find, and if a little wheeling happens while we are there, all the better :)

That's what I figured...I didn't know if you meant like "cleaning up" and making new trails or something...

It's late.

This past weekend I did notice a lot of trash at rock coady, so I'm in for helping out

Not really willing to run the show but i am definetly willing to give you or whoever a hand organizing it.

I don't think this will take much to organize. It's more round up the troops and maybe contact some media.

So who's interested!

There's an article in here of a past cleanup we did at Marlborough Forest, just to give you some pointers of what we've done in the past. The cleanups helped us forge a good relationship with the township, we even had access to a key to the locked gates, but unfortunately once the city of Ottawa took over the forest through the amalgamation we have been ignored and we haven't done it since.

Hopefully this is a restart of trail cleanups, cheers Jenn and Matt :beer::beer:

What city or township are these trails in? If it's not Ottawa then maybe they'd be interested in supporting us.

I'll make every effort to help with the cleanup.

I believe that Burntlands is in Ottawa, I will look at Rock Coady

Hey all this is laura. My good friend works for mississippi mills township roads department. I will call her on monday if you guy's like. actually john it is one of the Barr's from out your way!! I will get all the info from Matt on Sunday about what you guy's need done!!
