Ok so I am installing a filler cap in my stock CJ tank and I'm not sure how it goes. No instructions came with it. There is a ring with bolts that goes in the tank, a gasket and the filler cap.

The cap:

The gasket:

My question is should the gasket go on the inside or on the outside of the tank?

I can't say for certain, but since the cap housing goes on the outside, I would think the gasket goes on the outside as well, so that when the nuts are tightened, it will compress the gasket against the cap housing and the tank and and seal the opening...

Edit:

Also, fuel would eat that gasket up in no time... Unless its some space age nasa rubber skizzy madoo... lol
