Hi Guys, I tried finding the North Hastings club website - any one know the website?

I see that some OVO members have done the Lingham Lake trail, I wonder if there are any plans to head that way again this summer? I'd like to tag along and check it out - or anything in that area.

Let me know if interested.

Regards,

Louis

The domain name is owned by me, and hosted by me, but they had no interest in setting up a website so I've left it as is for now.

As for hitting Lingham, I'd love to, if I can get my rig down there. Maybe some time mid August?
Run in to the lake and back out, then play on the hydro line for a while? If there were no trailered rigs we could even run the hydro line right down to Kaladar and head home, but idealy I'd like to trailer/flat tow mine down.

I'd be up for that run if my truck can handle it. If not i'd like to ride along. Whats the trail like?, i havn't heard of this trail.

Matt, your truck can handle it fine. The run in to the lake was leveled a year or two ago to get construction vehicles in to the dam for restoration work. There's a nice deep river crossing if the water is up (which it should be with the amount of rain we've had) and a rocky incline with a bypass if it's needed. There's also "Johnson's Hole" which is a nice big mud pit that must be passed too (no bypass) but it could be paved over now because of the construction, or they could have made it even deeper! LoL As for the hydro line at the entrance, it's the same as Gorge in terms of terrain, access road with lots of obstacles to play on.
The trail itself is about 30 minutes north of Madoc, you can map it to see how long it'll take you to get there.

ok, that sounds good to me, I don't trailer though.

I have an event the first week or so of August but I should be good to go after that. I can even go during the week.

What kind of run is this? Lockers, open diffs, deep mud, rock etc etc?

As my previous post says, mud hole to cross on the way in & out of the lake, lockers of course will help, but if it's deep mud a winch/tug may be needed.

The hydro line is rocky out crop like any other line within the Canadian Shield. Run whatever line you want, but a 2WD truck could run the access road if you wanted.
There is one very cool rock face a long piece down the line that you can drive up, perfectly flat rock that is so steep you can't see the bottom from the top. Takes a big set of brass ones to drive up that. Of course Depot did it.....backwards!

Can you do Aug 8-9? I'm thinking about making it a camping weekend for myself and whoever else wants in. If 8-9 is no good, I propose 22-23, 15-16 is no good for me.

I believe that I will attend this, I found a normal campground about 15 minutes from Bon Echo and I will try to remember to call them about how many sites they would have available tomorrow.

Yup, this is still on. Will be discussed at the meeting more, but here is the plan.
I have borrowed a truck & trailer, and plan on camping by the river Friday night on. I believe Baja is still on for camping Friday night on as well.
If anyone else is in to camping Friday night on, we can make arrangements to convoy down together.
For those that cannot leave and want to meet Saturday morning, we will drive out and meet you at Tim Hortons in Madoc (corner of Hwy 7 & 62).

Dwayne, find a campground in Madoc, you will be much closer. There are 2 camp grounds in Madoc that I can remember, don't remember names though. Sorry.

Dwayne, Google was a "little" off on where that camp ground is. It's located South East of Madoc, on Moira Lake (look it up on Bing Maps, Google Maps doesn't show the lake) (I know *exactly* where it is now! as I drive by it every time I go to my parents), about 7 minutes from the Timmy's we plan on meeting at. That's a hell of a lot closer then Bon Echo, it's about 45-60 minutes away.
