New to jeep, need advise

Firstly it wasn't going in 4x4, caz guy said he never used it. then after couple of tries it went in and ya was moving slower then 2wd. and whole jeep was wobbling.

The wobbling could been from front wheel bearings but u should be able to hear them howl in 2wd down the road. Could be front drive shaft u joints seized too from not being used.

4hi should be easy to go in. 4 lo you need to be not moving or 2mph to get it in. My guess linkage is probably not configured. Sound like you went into 4 lo where you get lots of revs but not much movement. The front driveshaft is always turning so it isn't lack of use. The wobbliness may be binding doing 4lo on dry pavement? The diff's could be pinion seal leaks (if the leak seems to be coming from where the drive shaft attaches to the axle) but the oil pan could be rear main seal?

Couple hundred? Better off asking a professional mechanic
Is that what you saw for leaks?

so finally i got 2001 Tj... is there a good mechanic that you guys know for safety and emission. Although i have no check engine light and no rust of jeep.

Mitko. He is no fan of jeeps but he owned one and will be unbiased in his opinion.

Actually Chris I owned more than one. I also had a 87 turbo diesel cherokee and a YJ. Just in another life.
