Well the safety course was informative as it was last year. I learned some new things I didn't pick up last year. Thanks Mitko for doing it.
After the course was over 3 of us continued to do the trail, we ended up meeting Louis (white Toyota) and followed them until the old mud pit. The new one is definitely bad. Louis was able to do it but the rest of us chickened out. Once we got to the old mud pit we found it is barely what it used to be. It has been drained although right after it is a bit sloppy. Overall the trail was about half as wet as it was last year around october when I last did it.
We ended up meeting with the developer there and he ranted a bit about us trespassing. According to him his property line crosses diagonally across the mud pit so technically we aren't supposed to be in it. The reason the mud pit is drained is due to him draining it. He said that the reason is to control water that is coming from another subdivision. As far as he was concerned he couldn't care what we did as long as we would stop going through there. To be honest there isn't as much of a challenge there as it used to be and it is becoming even less. We suspect he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on but he is going to be talking to a counselor about what he can do. He may end up putting up signs. Louis mentioned that he had talked to the city and they had said that "if there is enough complaints they will do something". What that entails is unknown. I would figure the trail is safe to use up to the mud pit but it would involve backtracking the way you came. The biggest challenge I suspect (not sure since we didn't go back) is the little rocky embankment at the beginning of the new mud pit to get up it. It's pretty muddy for near stock so the rocks will get pretty slick but it is a short but steep step so still doable with short wheelbase. 4dr JK and longer may have to be careful and pick their lines otherwise risk highcentering.
Best part is I took pictures and for some stupid reason, my camera won't be picked up by my computer for the first time ever.
May have to see if I can get the pictures off the computer from work for tomorrow. I took a picture of the end of the new mud pit as well as a picture of the old. I will try to get them up tomorrow.
Good time all
P.S I put my new oil pan skid on yesterday and already have some scrapes on it
