Our Quinn clean up run is planned for early May, so we'll find out then what has happened. But if this weather keeps up maybe the trail will be ready (not too muddy) for a small group to go explore it.

The way the weather is going, I wouldn't be supprised if we could be up there this month still.
Even if it has been logged and the main trail is pooched, it may very well open up new obsticals for us.

Wish my rig was done.......

hey folks, we went up there last december and one of our group was stock and made it all the way in 2nd gear cause his first was f"/$k up. so yes it has changed alot since the last time i went there.(very very bad).so like last year i will look for some trails in quebec and let you know what i have found. it's not an easy job to find some new trails but with the years sometimes your able to meet some people and sometimes can land in land permission! right now it'S mostly power line trails that we are doing. let u know !

there used to be a trail from long bay lake to the crag lake trail about 25 years ago - long since grown in. i was thinking about taking a couple of elans and scoping it out - would have to be next year though. I was in at the gas station/restaurant (burts?) in griffith last summer, spoke with burt and his son has a tricked out jeep and wheels around there up the forest access roads, might be a good idea to see if someone can get in contact with them and see what is available in that area - I am sure there are some good spots now. And how about that trail system in mattawa area?

When I went to Victory Lane to install glass at a new house, two fully loaded log trucks squeezed by me on the Power Dam Rd.....Norcan Lake Rd had evidence trucks had come through there so they are choppin and haulin trees outta that area for sure. This was two weeks ago BTW. JUST SAY NO TO CALABOGIE!!!

never heard of long bay lake, do you mean long schooner lake? if so I'd suggest you not venture into that area. if there was a trail there's a good reason why it was closed down. the schooners and fortune lakes are protected by ANSI and the MNR patrols this area to ensure that it is not misused. last thing we need is to shut down craig lake too.

so I found longbay lake and don't believe that area is part of the north frontenac parks area. by the looks of it, it looks like quite the trek out from crag lake. I'm guessing the closest access point is trail near the log cabin?

Yes I think the easiest was a little west of that cabin. Never did make it in with the elans, maybe next year. I will be going to long bay in the next couple of weeks though. I mght go up into the quinns this weekend to check it out.

I was back in the Quinns this past weekend fishing. We went in off the Hydro Line trail,it was in rough shape for sure. The one section through the swamp pass was rough, lots of mud and water, the makeshift bridge was torn apart.Surprisingly wet back there considering we haven't had much rain.

I was only able to drive my truck a little ways in,we took the Rhino back the rest of the way and it had a hard time in some sections. We definatly didn't see any eveidence of logging where we went in,we were at the end of the line, last lake on the trail.
