Snow tires

In a Toy? Do you mean 5.29's?

alright, yes I meant 5:29's.

Didn't realize the calculator could sway so much. I know that 35' A/T are the only winter tire I will find. I can search kijiji myself. My original question was: Ok, other than the obvious, are any common off road tires any good in snow?

I guess the answer is no. Was thinking maybe someone on here had experience running M/T's, Irok's, etc in the snow.

I *loved* my BFG AT's on the 'Runner when I had them (for the winter). And once she becomes the pavement pounder she is destined to be she'll get another set of 35 AT's.
That being said, I love my TruXus as well. Their only draw back is slush. Man it can get sucked from this side of the road to that in an aweful hurry! But that is probably true with any 12.5" or wider. My AT's were only 10.5 wide.

Alrighty, info I can use. Truxus are doable...A/T's ideal. What about Cheapy Mud Kings?? any better than my tsl's? Or M/T's lot of them around.

Or to be anal via the ProCrap calculator:

315/75R16 = 34.6 x 12.4 x 16

The only thing used your likely to find is BFG AT in 35x12.5x15. Which is likely a 34" tire if you want to be even more anal about it.

:D

Ps: that's a lot of anal....:lmao:

You and I have the same problem, last winter I was running Michelins for daily driver duty and it sucked. I bought a set of used 37X12.50R17 BFG A/Ts that were half worn (take offs from a Hummer H1 civilian truck with alloys) and some FJ Cruiser wheels, the ATs were excellent. I could not go any smaller than 35 due to the gearing, and I have some weight to deal with the wider tires. I also ran 500 lbs of sand in the box. The problem is 12 inch wide rubber is going to be a lot for your truck (no weight), you would ideally be a lot better with a really narrow tire. Getting a set of stocker unlocked diffs with 4.10 gears and swapping them out might be cheaper than getting a set of blingo 1200$ tires. I found Yokohama Geolandars (315/75R16 - 34.5 inch diameter) for sale on Ebay:

Pricey, though. I'd personally rather buy ATs and have streetable tires for the summer too.

Thats exactly the prob. I'm going to play around with weight this weekend and see if it makes any difference. 35 AT's are still 12.50 wide. Maybe I can squish a set onto 8 inch rims? Problem is that 33's make my truck look ridiculous and I'd still like to be able to plow through some drift when needs be. If a bit of weight changes things I'll prob get some 36 IROKs and put em on 8 or 9 inch rims. Otherwise I'll step into some stocker diffs and a set of sticky winter 33's (booo!)
