Not completely knowing all of people's call names, i was speaking with someone at the last meeting (Tim?) about lending a hand at one of the check points for shits and giggles, however my concern was that my jeep is..... Well.... Still in pieces. So, i would have no way of getting to the point. If someone could let me know if i can still help in this regard and what/where/how to go about, that would be great.

Cheers,

Tim (CaptainFitz) is the one to talk to about this, I am sure someone could drop you off and pick you up at the check point.

A normal car can make it to most checkpoints no problem. I am sure he would assign one you can make it to with what you have....

Jen and I don't have a stove and always cook on the fire when we're camping. Is that going to be possible at Spring Fever?

Yes you were speaking with me at the meeting, i would love the help for a checkpoint. I could arrange a ride, or potentially a location you can get to with your car.. I would ask you to let me know for sure if you can make it and if so I would need you at the damn for 8:30 on the Sat morning. Let me know if this works for you and if so, great.

Thanks tim

Hey Shane,

Glad you guys can make it. Camping is primitive there, there will be porta potties on site as of some point on Thursday. The earlier you arrive, the better site you will get, there are a couple guys heading out to set up first thing Friday, Thursday night there will be a couple of us there, usually only a few and a quiet night. You are welcome to come, and welcome to help set up, or hang around, and help with registration type stuff on Thursday. or just enjoy the day.

Back to the food situation, as Ty asked, is it doable to cook on a fire? Or is a stove required?

Hey Jen
I would say a cook fire is good if that is how you like cooking, one thing though is that you would need to bring enough firewood to make sure you are able to cook all weekend. The area has been picked pretty clean from what I saw last time.

Thanks Dwayne, we were planning on bringing lots of wood. BTW, if we run out is there anywhere near by that we can head to in order to purchase more?

The closest store is back to Calabogie, 20 min or something like that.
Also, for the water, bring enough for all your needs, there's no source within walking distance.

fire wood !!!!

Hey Jen

We may have a source for wood. A friend has a buisiness that is actually selling camp firewood. (old Russett rd.) Arnprior. We'll see what answers we can get for Quanity. etc..in the next few day's.

you guys ain't looking hard enough if you can't find any wood to burn! I never had a problem finding wood for cooking/heat/light. you guys just need to hike in a bit further! if anyone ever remembered me at previous events, I never needed more than a tent, cooler, and a grille. the rest, mother nature supplied :flipoff:
