Jeep is on the hoist with the old steering box out. Somebody didn't check if the shaft would fit on the new steering box..... FAIL
Need a new shaft or even the box end, not sure of spline count right now, but need a bigger one than what we have. The new steering box is an AGR.
I'm in Ottawa right now, going to Kemptville later. Have people in Smiths Falls, Carp, Richmond and anywhere in between to pick up.
Thanks!

Count the splines - a Chevy steering rod may work. If not, NAPA could bring in Borgeson joints as I had Keith do to make up my shaft. Summit has all of the applications if you need part numbers, and I know some googling turned up what spline count the Chevy stuff was.

Good luck!

Thanks, turns out we have a box to fit a 78-86 CJ. The Jeep however has been molested far beyond what we knew. The shaft is possibly from an earlier CJ. Currently doing measurments and spline counts to get the right shaft. PS Line fittings are wrong too, go figure. Let the bastardization continue....

Yeah, everything steering out of my 85 CJ is from a Chevy, so piecing stuff together was the only way it was going to work for me. Mind you, trying to track down certain parts has been fun without knowing what year everything came from. Good luck!
