It was a blast yesturday i would recomend givin it a go for the next event in Sept. The mud bog was mehem so many people covered in mud from head to toe. I think the organizers did a great job.

We had a great time! in fact i haven't had that much fun as i had during my 2 runs in a long time! It may not be KOH but competing is friggin fun! I took second place each day in the big tire class and earned enough dough to pay for my fuel and then some. It was a well organized fun event and all the competitors camped at the far end next to the comp course and it was quite and civilized. All in all an excellent weekend!

How different was the buggy/unlimited course? I'm presuming everything in the pics/vids was 35 or under.

the bigger class did run a different course that criss crossed this one and utilized some of the smaller class obstacles but in reverse

I'd love to see some vids of that - with the CJ on 36's, I'd unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how I feel that day) be competing with the big boys.

With a 37" cutoff, I'd be in for September (presuming I get the overheating thing worked out).

It was a good course, but adding the water made it very difficult for most in a couple sections. On 33's and open/open it's hard to compete against 37's and locked, but that's way the split happened. The stock TJ on AT 31's really didn't have a chance, but I'll go back in September. Front locker will definitely be in before then - cross pin and new pin and spring kit on order.

The county has been pretty direct about the rowdy behavior needs to be reeled in, but I really felt we were a sideshow and will be left to do what we feel like. The nice thing is that as long as the venue exists then National 4WD can continue to build on the work they are already doing.

what is your overheating problem? at idle, highway, under load? How hot does it get?

<hijack>
Highway or any driving really, SBC 350/Turbo 350 trans, trans cooler in the rad, gets up to 215 before I pulled off (didn't want to cook the trans more than anything). Cools off at idle and stays around 180. Got a new rad coming that will fit properly with a puller fan, and a separate trans cooler/fan combo. Current rad is wider than the cradle and set up with a "puller" fan against the grille, pushing at the rad. Underhood temps are pretty high as well, so I also need to pick up some louvers (hence the other thread) as it came back down to 180 a lot quicker with the hood propped.

A couple of years back when it was last on the road, it wasn't bad, but I only had it out in the fall. Changes since then are new gears (4.88's vs 3.55) and fresh fluids in everything but the rad.

Agreed that it's not necessarily too hot, just hotter than I was comfortable running at the time. I'd rather see it run 190/200 than 215 and climbing after a few minutes, and I know it shouldn't be too hard to sort out with the goofy setup in there, and I really don't want my trans fluid to be "cooled" to 215.
