Winter Wheeling

I understand that sleds take over most of the trails in the winter, but are there any trails in Ottawa suitable for our use this time of year?

Not really. Also we try to avoid going on trails until May as it is too wet before it. This stops the trails from being cut up too much.

I winter camp a few times per season when I'm ice fishing. Usually take the sleds or atv in or a night or two.

OVO used to winter camp in the past. I don't think Crag lake is used in the winter but that trail is a PITA in the snow ;)

Yes, Crag is an extreme bitch in the snow. AND, to get there the access road is a OFSC trail, no?

Yes we did winter runs in the past, I remember going Quinn, Gorge and Lavant. It was fun but lately we stopped as there was less interest and also most of the members use the winter months for repairs, upgrades and general healing. Don't remember to ever interfere with OFSC.

Gorge was fun, actually getting to the trail was fun, only Brad in his TJ and I actually went on the trail and still we didn't go far from the entrance.

We went to the Quinn in December before the OFSC opened their trails, it was after the first snowfall. And we really shouldn't have gone on it with snow and ice, I'm still surprised no one slid off the side hill!

But lately the only snow wheelling I've done is in my front yard :lmao: which is fine as I've had enough with salt on my Jeep

I'd definitely be interested in getting out into some snow. Even Dwyer hill at this point. Anything to get me off the road lol. Is anyone free next friday?
