So.. I bent the rod that goes from the pitman arm to the connecting tie rod. So i need something stronger... Who can lead me in the right direction to acquire this part?

Drag link - just weld some bungs in a piece of tube for the TRE/drag link end/heim on either end. It'll give you the most flexibility on length and strength.

I was going to weld a bar on it for now. Where is a good place for the tube and bungs?

Would heims be good for year round driving? or should I stick with tie rods?

For road I would go with TRE/DL ends as they are designed to be used in single shear, where as heim ends are meant to be used in double shear. My 2 cents. Make sure you get the right bung for whatever end you use, I know the Chevy TRE's I plan on using need a different bung than the heims.
