Dang.

I got one at a local yard, and cheapest was over $100 AND I waited 3 hours while they pulled it. (Don't know what the fawk took 'em so long).

Shoulda asked here first. :banghead:

I guess it doesn't matter now since you already got one but I'll ask anyway. Is the shaft for a manual trans or an automatic, there is approx 3/4-1" difference in overall length. If I remember correctly the auto front shaft is longer than a manual front shaft, and vice-versa for the rear shafts.....I hope you got the right one from the wrecker:) Oh and If the u-joints are good on the wrecker shaft (IF) than don't feel so bad cause you have 3 $25 u-joints in there plus the time to install them....$100 doesn't seem too bad but $50 is way better!

I haven't picked one up yet, waiting for the next time I head down "south". As per length, the only reason I want it is to cut it down and put it into the rear of my TJ.

Yep, you're right: the auto front shaft is longer, and that's the one I got. Fits the 5" lift almost perfectly. It's a little past the mid-point on the compression part, about 1/2" out of 3 1/2", but I don't plan on jumping it around like the General Lee. :D

2 u-joints had to be replaced, the third is not too bad once I took it apart, cleaned it out, and regreased it. Having a ball joint removal set makes this a 5 minute job (with the shaft out).
