What is the measurement from top of front frame rails to the top of the front bar of your hood? I forgot to measure mine for reference before I cut it up. :banghead:

Here you go:

Keep in mind, mine is lower than stock height...

Thanks, just need something for comparison. I'll be making it as low as I can.
Got the chain for the engine hoist in the way otherwise I'd just put the hood on to check.

Got some work done today :glasses:

Cleaned the garage and pulled the truck out of the corner into the middle so I can get at it easy.

Removed floor pans, seats, bed floor, gas tank, complete toy wiring harness, motor mounts, etc.

Also pulled apart the dual cases and removes the interlock pin, then installed the twin stick I won from the Big Dogs raffle.

All cleaned up and ready for the next step. Now off to CT to buy some sawsall blades and cut the firewall out ;)

By tomorrow it will pretty much just be a bare chassis

Kind of feels like I am going backwards :banghead::lmao:

Nah, Read back a couple pages, 5.3 Chevy going in...

Got the firewall stripped of Clutch, Gas Pedal, Brake booster and Steering Column.

Rest is going in the garbage.

Off to pick up the new parts now :glasses:

Flex Plate and Spacer installed:

Now the Bad:

Looks like I am not going to be able to use the stock Torque Converter. It has only three bolts, is 12" in diameter and hits the flex plate before the engine can go completely in:

Question is, What should I be getting? Time to do some more research....

Nice to see the engine in there, looks right at home. :)
Looks like the clearances are adequate......

As far as the torque issue goes, is it caused by the 1" spacer?
Why run the spacer? What is its purpose?
Are custom torques available? What do others run who use the spacer?

Gen III engines crank does not stick out as far. The spacer is to extend the pilot hole for the TQ Converter to mate to.

As far as the converter hitting the plate, might just be a stupid moment on my part. There are two splines you have to slip past on auto's and I think I might have only slipped it past the first one. In other words, it might not have been in all the way. I will know once I get the motor mounts done and the engine back out...

For the bolt pattern, it looks like people drill out the holes on this flexplate to accommodate the th350-/400 converters.. This flexplate is designed for 298 MM bolt pattern.
