So the clutch is seized, won't depress. The jeep has been sitting for three years, any simple things I can do?

Andrew mentioned it may be the slave. I was going to pull it off and see if I could push in the rod, but the mounting studs are going to break, so I'm wondering about alternatives before I go ahead and snap the studs :p

That sucks. Doesn't Matt still have his nv3550 for sale? I am sure he could give it to you cheap. Just needs a rebuild :)

Sounds like your in a damned if you do damned if you don't sort of scenario not knowing what's seized, either the clutch pedal lever hinge point(highly unlikely), clutch master cylinder input rod or clutch slave cylinder output rod has a rust ridge on it from the old moisture full fluid left in it idle for three years, or the release bearing is seized on the trans input shaft.... I suggest giving the clutch pedal a couple good stomps with your foot and replace whatever (if anything) starts leaking ;)*

i bought an old vehicle that had a seized clutch, the peddle depressed but woudn't release so we towed it slowly in 4th with the clutch peddle depressed and when i let off the peddle it popped free...it didn't even make a noise, took 15 min start to finish.
like junkpile said though, yours sounds like it could be master or slave...

BY the way if you end up replacing the master, there is a little capture bushing that attaches it to the pedal. If you don't want it let me know. Mine is jury-rigged but I would like to get the proper part. Dealer doesn't sell it separately. Dorman has a replacement but since it is a universal part it works but only kind of.

Today's "progress"... :stir:

Thanks to Andrew for too long of a day and to Tim for providing us a second wind.

This is the new direction of my rebuild. I wanted a few parts off of Tim / Alex's hemi tj, so I decided to take it all minus the hemi. It's much cleaner than mine, obviously. This jeep has been off the road for about the last 5 years and has only been wheeled a handful of times.

Yesterday we plasma'd off the hemi mounts and cut my motor mounts off the frame. We decided to sacrifice my frame for the sake of having perfectly intact engine mounts. I spent about three hours grinding the frame rails and motor mounts clean... 30 minutes later I rifled through the parts inside the jeep and found a pair of motor mounts in very good shape, lol. Doh!

The remainder of my day was spent sorting through the pile of parts in the new TJ and drilling / tapping all the broken bolts in the front end so I can start putting it back together.

Any chance you saved those hemi mounts

Or did Andrew just weld them on too well...??

Ya. I'm supposed to be pulling the transmission right now for a rebuild... instead I am stuck monkeying around with the Jeep's transmission :banghead:
Buggy will also be getting a doubler (203/205) and time / money permitting in the spring, some much needed front steering tweaks.

good progress brad, any plans on the buggy this winter?

I pulled the transmission on the weekend, broke another bolt (yay! fun!). Throw out bearing is seized. I lubed it up and got the bearing to spin, but it won't move on the shaft.

/shrug.
At 150km it's due anyway I guess. Ordered a clutch kit today, I'll tackle that tomorrow evening.

Haha, definitely not. It's one of those things though... you can drain the transmission / tcase when you get into deep water, but you can't do anything for the bellhousing. They shoulda put a drain on it!
