Thanks for a great day guys! it was a blast. I had visions of tricked out jeeps and other assorted vehicles dancing through my head all the way home. Can't wait to sit down and talk to the wife. Next summer is going to be an interesting time around the old household here :)

Welcome to the offroading world. Should warn you though, it's addictive.

I'm beginning to realize that!!!

Hey Dirk, the vehicle we talked about is the RG31 Nyala. Check it out!

@mitko The Nyala is built by South Africa and used by Canada as well as the States. Look here for a full list of countries that use it.

The Panhard is French, but Mexico is one of the countries that use it. I would love to get my hands on one. I think i need to see if Mexico is selling off some old stock.

See here for more details on the VBL (check out the 12.7 version):

http://www.panhard.fr/francais/index.htm

and here

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Véhicule_Blindé_Léger

and here for a video of the VBL

After watching the video, I really want one!

Wonder how much for a used one?

It was the diesel, right :)

Not bad ratings though for the engine, and Peugot makes a decent product from what I remember from my earlier days. Like I said, road trip to Mexico?

Though I have discovered that a few of these babies are being used by the U.S. Have to find out where!

Yeah, the VBL is a good looking machine. Need to find some images of what the interior layout is like behind the front seats.
