Hey everyone.

This is just a feeler....................

I have been shown that there is a little too much play in my upper and lower ball joints so I guess its time to have them changed.

With the prices that mechanics charge now ( no offense if your a mechanic ) theses days I am almost inclined to do them myself or ask from some help and make a day of it. Obviously I would pay for the help... with Beer and buckets of fried chicken.. LOL and yes with $$$$$

I was also told that I should...

It should be fairly straightforward with a ball-joint press, and you should be able to borrow them from some parts stores. On a unit bearing vehicle like the TJ, it's a good beginner project to work on and only take a few hours, unless there is something tricky about the TJ's I'm not aware of.

I'll offer my garage, I have a u-joint clamp tool that I think is made for ball joints also, plus anything else we might need like torches and BFH.

I haven't done ball joints before though, so if anyone with experience on TJs wants to come over that would be great.

Do bring beer but please no fried chicken :p

Rick, set up the time and date and I 'might' come over (depending on the availability) to give some hand/brain (not that I have much) - have done hundreds of them - it is **** thing of course and they use to fail fairly often.

Thanks everyone who has offered up their time, tools, garage and expertise. !!!!!

I hope that this does not sound to forward but I will take everyone up on what has been offered so far.

Richard please feel free to pick and choose whatever day you can manage to offer up.... My schedule is WIDE open to get this done and learn how to do it....

Thanks Mitko for offering to come over and lend a hand. Considering that you have done many of them in the past some good knowledge is more than welcome.... At least from my perspective... Thanks to Kunker and Louie for offering up your services as well.... The more the merrier I say....

As I mentioned previously I should have the ball joints and the universal joints hopefully by the end of this week.

Thanks again everybody. I am really looking forward to learning how to do this and hanging out for a few hours....

How about this Sunday? If you don't have all the parts, or if it's better for others we can move it to Sunday the 17th.

If YJ driver can't make it happen with his garage for whatever reason, I can offer mine up. I do not have the specific tool though.

Richard,

I think Sunday March 17 would be much better for me and I believe that it will hopefully give enough decision time for the others who want to come out and wrench with me and offer up their knowledge and possibly the proper tools....

Does Sunday March 17 work for everyone mentioned above who has so graciously offered up their time, tools and knowledge ?????

I ordered the parts yesterday from Mississauga so I am assuming I will have them for this weekend but unfortunately I already have plans, Moms B-day..... cannot miss that, I would never hear the end of it if I were to cancel.... know what I mean.....

So Richard, if your good for Sun March 17 and the others are as well then I say lets go for it.

Any objections ??

If you don't have the tool, I have a universal Ball joint tool you can borrow. I did a ball joint on a ZJ with it. You might want to start soaking it with PB blaster or any other penetrant every day for a week before to make it easier.

I'd be free on the 10th, but can't commit for the 17th until I know more later. Either way, if you need the tool, it's available.

I can also offer a garage as a backup plan if needed.

There's a restaurant in Dunrobin that servers burgers, pizza, and stuff, dine in, take out or delivery depending when we want to eat. I'm not fussy about beer.

Just pointing out that is St. Patty's day. Don't know if that affects anyone.

Hmmm, maybe bring some green beer, or Guiness ;)
