I cleaned the terminals and it started right up. Seems the battery was fine but the connections were bad.

Ok well i cleaned the terminals and drove today and I stopped to get gas on the corner of king eddy and Rideau and she wont start back up. I even got a boost. I asked Spark auto(96 Nelson) right by my house and they want 35$ to take a look at it or if im sure its the cable TO the starter from the terminal then he will replace that and the terminal for 20$. The other option is that its the starter itself which is 262$ total installed with taxes. 162$ if i just get the starter.

would anyone be able to come by and jerry rig a tow for me?

I can compensate. I just dont have enough for a CAA tow.

Try banging on the starter with a hammer. Sometimes that's enough to get one more start out of it.

Don't rule out the battery. Does the starter click?

Didn't get a chance to test the alternator last night because it was pitch black where i park behind my building. This morning I just got her going to left.

The accessories all work now, except the flashers which im not too sure about.

The stereo turned out to be a fuse.

A boost won't get you far if the battery and altinator are dead. May have worked without fuel injection years ago, but not with. I woudn't trust driving it anywhere unless you can afford a tow home.

Wow were you ever right lol

yeah lol. I think its just the cable at this point. It didn't DIE. I turned it off at a gas station but it wouldnt restart.

Best advice just buy a multimeter, it will come in handy in situations like this.
Check the battery, if it is around 12v then yes could be connection somewhere or starter. You can check the battery by having someone try to start it when you are watching the voltage across the battery. If it goes below 7 or 8 then the battery is done.

If it has less then 12v then probably the alt.

Wait unless you have drained it trying to start it. Then none of this applies.

no way to get to a hardware store. However, I also have a problem where its sitting at the gas station waiting. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I CAN get it towed but i really cant afford it.

If you think it's just the cable going from the battery to the starter then just use your jumper cable to short it. I had to do this all one weekend campin. I just made the direct connection and had one else turn the key. Worked like a charm just watch where your hands are.

Not going to be a popular opinion but...if money is seriously this tight and the Jeep is becoming a money pit, you might want to consider selling it now and saving some coin for a more reliable truck down the road. Just a thought.

As for the problem at hand, do you have the time and tools to remove the starter yourself? Again, it can be checked at a parts store so you can make sure you aren't throwing money away. Also another part that can be had with a lifetime warrenty. Like Baja said, make sure you get a multimeter as they are a lifesaver in these situations, and only run a few bucks. Hell, you could head down to The Source in Rideau Center and pick one up.

Good luck!

It was just the starter and connections on the battery. I bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic. It took 5 minutes to get the narrowed down the a starter problem other then the loose connections which caused the flashers not to work.

Stereo as i said was a blown fuse which they fixed for me as well..

All said and done everything cost me 320$....

I'm quite pissed how much everything cost but i've got it back and driveable.. on the plus said i found out it has the 8.25 inch
