Lavant Trail Run This Sunday

Hey, being new to this site and off-roading in general, how would this Lavant trail be rated considering the weather and all? I would love to go, but I drive a stock FJ, and don't really want to spend all day digging myself out of the mud. I am really interested in getting out on some trails and seeing what the FJ can do and having some fun 4-wheeling. Any thoughts for this 4-wheeler wanna-be? Is this a good trail to get started on?

What options are on the FJ? A-Trac? Locker? Even without the trail should be do-able in a FJ, only thing would be the running boards. You'd need to have them watched closely at the water crossing. There are some rocks there that might jump up and grab them. Unless of course you took the slider/step option, then you are good to go.
I think A-trac is standard on all the FJ's, no? It works well, and should be turned on, will get you through the whole trail. Just ask for a spotter when needed, and listen to him. :)

You should be ok, spotter will help keep damage at bay most of the time. By most of the time I mean usually damage occures when you dont trust your spotter. That was my mistake my first time out on Lavant. Its definately a good trail and will get the pucker factor going if its your first time wheeling but its doable. I'll be driving this trail fairly slow so if you want to stick with me you're more than welcome. I'll be in the black XJ providing I can get her ready in time.

I got a few repairs to do before I take her out, shouldnt take more than a couple hours tonight and tomorrow though.

PS: If you get stuck its not like top gear where we just leave you, we will get you out and get you going so hours being stuck will not happen.

FYI: I've got a Yota on 33s that will be joining me too.

Did we decide on a meeting time at Bells corners/Almonte or where ever?

Thanks for the feedback. Not really clear on the meeting / starting point - Bells Corners - never been there. This is at 36 (Robertson) & 59, near the 417 & 416 junction?

With rain forcasted to begin Wednesday afternoon and running all the way through till Sunday, it could make for a sloppy run, so who's in?? Meeting at Loblaw's in Bells Corners at 9 am, pit stop at the Almonte Tim Horton's at 9:30 then off to the trail. Make sure you are gassed up, pack a lunch, bugspray and water....depending on who actually shows up we may take the 'alternative' exit just to make things interesting......

it may just be me but thats how i read it. leaving loblaws at 9,

I'll be leaving my house at 8 in Gatineau, with or without the Yota guy I mentioned. Should be there by 8:20-8:30.

My rig is 90km.h max basically just so everyone knows.

Edit: From the look of it out my office window I think I'm going to need to do that cowl snorkel intake I had planned tomorrow if I plan to make it through the pond section... lol

lmao dr. fat.

Last time I did Lavant with ovo I was struggling to keep up on that back road that you get to the trail on. I was like holy hell I should have built a prerunner lol.

I'm hoping that pond wont be too deep. Anything more than 2 feet and I dont know if i'll be able to get through without my snorkel setup. I'm stopping by crappy tire tomorrow and going to see if i can jerry rig something.

They are on sale at CTC for $19.99 this week.

Nice thanks for the tip. Its a shame to buy a new one when I've got a really nice one back home but whatever, always nice to have a backup.

Also realized I forgot my hand held CB thingys, and at 60$ I'm not buying a new one of those so I'll just be without a CB for this trip. if I need to stop I'll just wave like a mad man :smokin:

swhytie: Did you want to convoy out together? I'm leaving my place at 8:15
