Is it cheaper to just buy a used one then rebuild yours Matt?
Dwayne
If you can get one for 100.00 have them empty the oil, wrap it in 6mil garbag bags and put it on the Greyhound to ottawa. Should be about 40-50.00.

You might want to look at the NV3550. I far as I know its the same size and splines as the AX-15. Might cost more but its stronger.
Ok, so i have done allot more reasearch and have found that my tranny in my jeep is actually an NV3550. They started putting them in the TJ's in 2000.
My problem is it grinds going into second and sometimes third and from third to second. Also in the tranny it sounds like metal jinlging around.
So naturaly i thought it was the synchros. Now i have read on pirates that allot of people have this from brand new and that it is normal... I think this is wierd.
I think this is wierd so I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or knows anything.
Thanks:beer:
when changing the trany oil, inspect it:
if it has golden/brass particles (golden colored) in it, this is a sign of worned sinchros;
if the oil is mostly metal colored - worned bearings;
chunks - you know what it is.![]()
Haha you have a more expensive tranny.
Seriously though, a lot of people have posted on JF about the NV3550 and the Royal Purple Synchromax is probably the highest recommended to get more so than the Redline. I think second and third was Amsoil and Pennzoil Synchromesh.
On a side note the Redline MT-90 is recommended for the AX-15.
That may explain why you couldn't find the drain on my transmission yesterday :lmao:
I think the rebuild kits come with instructions.
