Fabbed up a simple rad support today for the rad I picked up. It's a Griffin 33.25" x 18.62" aluminum dual pass, crossflow. I'm rolling the dice and will run just one fan unless it proves insufficient. It's pulling over 3000 cfm so my fingers are crossed. I started with some flat stock and angle and some brackets I had laying around. I picked up some foam tape to "cushion" it in the brackets.
Planning on shrouding the fan? I suspect it will be more than enough either way though - that's a pretty freakin' big rad, and my SBC was kept cool unshrouded with probably 1/2 the area.
it is big, biggest i could get - i wanted to make sure there was lots of cooling area and plenty of room for duel fans if required and that it will see minimal airflow. At this point i will rely on the plastic shroud that is with the fan - my first trip out will be the test. That's good to hear about your old set up too! How's the new drivetrain coming along?
I used my big angle grinder with a sanding disk (4.5"), i had to grind at a 45 degree angle which wore the disk down quick and i kept hitting the angle but it worked well as i used a course disk.
I got a pile of things done this weekend that aren't really picture worthy. Built most of the fuel lines and ran them through the buggy - I had to build a simple bracket to hold the rubber lines coming from the pump. I also started bundling a lot of the electrical and putting them in wire looms, but there are still a lot of lines/wires kind of all over the place - a lot more to go. I also plumbed the cooling lines and fabbed up a bunch of tunnel/floor panels. I have three more to go but ran out of aluminum.
Updates, buggy is wired up (everything works) fuel system is primed, all that is left is to plumb the cooling system (still waiting on a thermostat housing) build the exhaust then start-up and break in the motor, oh and finish bolting in all the floor/console panels... oh and get the steering pump/reservoir and finish plumbing that... oh and then workout all the bugs!
