Quinn Trail run - Aug. 25th.

As mentioned earlier - I will be leading Quinn trail run Aug. 25th, Front to Back door.
This is a OVO run.
Two meeting spots - Zellers parking, Bells Corners, leaving 8.30am sharp;
Stinson gas station Calabogie, leaving 10am.; will stop at the dam for a minute or two if somebody wants to join from there.
Quinn is NOT a stock friendly trail, so minimum requirements are set for this run - 33" tires and locker.
The usual stuff: bring your recovery gear, bug spray, lunch, camera and...

Are you trying to limit the size of the group or the time it takes to run the trail?

You can run Quinn w. 31's and open/open if you are skidded and pick proper lines. I have more than once and never needed a tug or a winch or became an anchor to the group. Wet and Dry conditions up the Piton and Pinion Highway.

I meet the 33" requirement but am still w/o my locker installed - would I still be welcome?

I see that Mitko is out of the country so I will comment that is always up to the trail leader as to what they want to lead on a trail and since he has probably 4 hours of driving just to the trail head and home and the full Quinn with Pinion Pass included takes a substantial amount of time depending on the number of vehicles he probably is trying to make it a nice, smooth, relatively quick trip through the Quinn. Although good spotting with open/open might get up pinion on a dry day if it is wet at all that likelihood quickly diminishes.

That video shows a Rubi with 33's so it is locked both ends and a Sami with 34's locked both ends on a mildly wet day with both drivers having good skill and knowing their trucks well. If you have 4 trucks with open it is going to take a while to get them up there and most will need a pull or winch which if it was 30 mins a piece really adds onto the length of the day.
The Quinn without Pinion Pass on a dry day is a totally different trip. So it is still up to Mitko, but if he says no don't take it personally. :beer:

Whereabouts is Quinn? And can you bring a full size vehicle in? Or is that just asking for too much headache.

Quinn is near the hydro dam west of Calabogie.

I wouldn't recommend a full size - the track in most places is not full width, and even with some logging activities there are tight turns and large trees that have not moved.

It would be up to the trail leader of course.

First time out with some significant suspension re-work and an entirely new cooling setup a long (ish) way from home with no access to a trailer on what appears to be one of the more difficult local trails we run = maybe not such a good idea for me. If the Gorge run is still happening this weekend (need to bump that thread), I think I'd rather start a little smaller there, that's all.

You can bring it but you cant use it, so I would recommend you to skip this run. :smokin:

Well for those that aren't "allowed" to run the Quinn on Saturday , the OJC will be running the Gorge on Sunday. meeting at the usual spot for 10:00. Stock friendy, no need for lockers!

The first time I did the Quin two trucks that should not have been on it broke, causing us to get back home at 1:00am. It wasn't exactly a fun day.
We run a wide variety of trails all year long, not every trail needs to be suitable for every vehicle in the club.
But thanks for pointing out the OJC run, feel free to direct people to a link so they can get some real information, or post a new thread.
