Hydro is doing a major upgrade/maintenance on all the towers in the Lanark area and looks like they are doing it in that direction as well. They did it about 3 or 4 yrs ago up in mattawa and ruin the trails. I have not been back there since but planning on going of next summer.

The more the merrier!

Who's interested in a day trip to 41 to try and find a new route as soon as the snow is mostly cleared?

If the kick is all ready by then I'd be in for the scouting run.

So, this is the area I guess we need to look in. I don't know if we can access the line that crosses here, hence the need to scout it.

(After the map loads, switch to Earth view and you'll see where the hydro line crosses the Mazinaw)

So this just got more interesting. Google Maps is showing an access road all the way down that section of powerline. Looks like you can enter right where I dropped my pin in the above link. Can travel down to Whitefish Lake, then beyond to the old airstrip (I've wheeled this area 15+ years ago with North Hastings and another few times with local friends....a childhood friend has a cottage in the area). Once at the airstrip it's pretty decent road to Weslemakoon Lake Road, then out to 62. I'm excited to try this route, did the fukin ground hog see his shadow today?!?!? LoL

CB's (I should say a *working* CB) will be mandatory for this trip, so if you don't have one now please look at getting one installed before the summer!

Sounds like fun! I would be interested in coming along.

What's the route you're thinking of? I assume there would be some road travel as well?

The whole expedition or the scouting aspect Danny?

Expedition: It'll start from Dodge Lake, which is accessed via the Mountain Chute Dam (Spring Fever/Suzican camping spot) area, continue West out to Hwy 41. There will be a 30 minute road paved road section, then continue West on access road/hydro trail to Hwy 62, another 45 minute paved section to Lingham Lake area and East on the hydro corridor to Hwy 41 again, time permitting.

Scouting: Entering hydro corridor off of Hwy 41 and heading West, not sure how far, time permitting.

To be honest it'll depend on the date. I'd be in for snoopin' or expiditin' !

Well, with the Petawawa Pioneer Days being on the Father's Day weekend, it looks like we'll be making use of the July 17-19th weekend for this trip. Let's see who is in/out now that the day is set?
