Build Project - SS Cherokee

Till Valhalla!
Well it's almost time to update this again. I've got a few weeks until I'm home and I've got big plans for this thing come this winter. A summer of hunting insurgents enabled me to collect a bunch of parts that are currently sitting in my basement :smokin:. I've spent the summer planning on a very ambitious rebuild of the old cherokee this winter which will involve it getting completely torn down, and rebuilt with a bunch of steel getting cut off and a whole lot melted on.

I won't spill the beans just yet, i'll wait to get home to start that!;)

Well I am finally home and it feels great. I had an opportunity to throw the battery back in the jeep and she started right up. I also took the opportunity to unwrap some of the stuff that has arrived at the house this summer.

Finally I will have a good steering setup!

some new "doors"

and a whole lot of "stuff" for the rebuild this winter.

hehehe, ya it's nice to get working on it again. First I have to get the trailer in tomorrow as I am having electrical issues which may or may not be connected to the sticking brakes - no worries though, it'll be sorted tomorrow. :D

Sweet parts. :D

I'll be home at Xmas and hopefully get a little wheeling in and some wrenching.

Thanks! So yes, I have an Atlas II 4.3:1 on the way (I'm gunna love the twin sticks) as well as a fuel cell. I've also got some frame stiffeners on the way - although i'll still have to fab most of my own i thought i would save some time with some from ruffstuff. So my imediate plans are to install rod ends onto my track bar (as I destroyed the joints before I left), add a leaf to the rear from an old leaf pack (i have to stiffen up the rear alittle as I am just alittle too flexy for my liking) and of course sort out my rear end and install hysteer tierod.
All that and wrap a new set of IROK's onto the wheels.

What do I have planned this winter?...

reposition the lower coil brackets farther back on the front axle.
trim the "fat" off of the front bumper
install hydro assist
plate the front cross member and entire frame from front to back
install atlas
install new leaf spring brackets and crossmembers
flip leaf springs and add traction bar
with rear springs flipped that will move axle back about 5 -6 inches so...
remove stock fuel tank and install fuel cell
CTM u-joints
heavily trim rear wheel wells and quarter panels
chop the rear (i won't weld in the hatch, i'll leave it open)
build hybrid exo/interior cage
wheel it hard next year

i'll keep this updated as best I can

Man, you're going to be BUSY!

Welcome back, BTW.

Thanks! Ya, hopefully i haven't bitten off too much - but I am off work until january and since i missed the summer wheelin season i am very motivated! My goal is to have it ready for spring fever!

About time Hi-lift came out with something to mount them to roll cages. My hack job works but gravity is a bitch so it slides down over time.
