So I arrived home Wednesday night and got at her thurs morning but thanks to Air Canada losing my luggage and not delivering until this afternoon (camera was in the bag) I didn't post progress, so now i can post some pics of the last couple of days. finished up the window bar and carried on with the roof...





then started on the back end...

i have some finishing stuff for tomorrow and then i'll be spray bombing it. I hope to have it spring fever ready by end day!

How did you manage to fully weld the joints that close to the body? One of the many reasons I decided to scrap the body on mine, couldn't figure out a way to ensure a solid weld on the tight tubes.

Man, I've got to get back to working on mine.......:banghead:

The welds on the inside at those areas that are close where a pain in the rear - there was enough "flex" in the sheet metal to get the tip in there (helps that i have dented and mishapen sheetmetal already so i wasn"t worried about causing any more). I just jambed the tip inbetween and spot welded until i couldn't see any exposed joint. Once the roof or "halo" was tacked together i removed it from the jeep to weld it all together I then just had to weld the halo to the fenders which where the PITA.

Well, it's not "finished" as there is some additional bracing i want to do and the entire B pillar and harrness bar, but it's ready for Spring Fever! I took it out today and got up to 100Km/hr and it did great (no explosions and i dare say drove better than it used to) steering is great and no issues with the drive train - the next test will be on the trail in May. I even took it out to some local sand dunes and climbed some hills, flexed her out and made rooster tails (even practiced a few front digs) so i"m very happy with it so far. Pics to follow once they load up! :D

oh yeah, Dwayne - besides the usual scrap and such I have about a 2' piece of tube left - glad you got me to get 140 ft instead of 100 i was originally going to get!

Thanks Brother, I'm just itchin to get out on the trail. I've got everything ready for when I get back from new brunswick for spring fever, I'll be there on the Saturday around noon! Are you going this year?
